Make / Model / Year / Component search for ToolsIn order for a user to find specific ESSTs that are required to fix a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle a user can use the Make / Model / Year filtering search option found under the Essential Special Service Tools tab in the middle of the Home page.
The user can choose any combination of make / model / year and component to see what ESSTs are available for a vehicle. For example a user can choose 2013 Ford Focus and add Front Suspension to see all the ESSTs that are available for the front suspension of a 2013 Ford Focus.
ESST numbering systemEssential Special Service Tools (ESSTS) are tools that are critically necessary to properly and effectively service the vehicle components. The Global Tool Numbering applies to Essential Special Service Tools (ESSTs) only. •Global tool numbers were designed to standardize tool numbers throughout the world and be consistent with the service manual section grouping organization. Beginning in the 1997 calendar year, all new tools carry a Global Tool number. •Global Tool numbering for ESSTs is organized by vehicle component. •The first three digits contain the group number. The group number corresponds to the service manual section for which the tool was developed initially. o100- Overall o200- Chassis o300- Powertrain o400- Accessory o500- Body
